About

Battlemont is an area forming a rough polygon bordered by Interstate 440 on the North, Franklin Pike on the East, Woodmont Boulevard on the South, and Belmont Boulevard on the West. The western edge of Battlemont is adjacent to the Green Hills neighborhood, while its southwest corner is near the campus of Lipscomb University.

Primarily located within Census Tract 178 in Davidson County, the defined area consists of approximately 2,100 acres of land in Nashville.

The physical geography of the neighborhood is marked by rolling hills and a mature tree canopy that lines its historic residential streets. The area's hydrology is dominated by Browns Creek, which flows from west to east directly through the heart of Battlemont. This creek and its small tributaries have shaped the local topography and created natural green corridors that run through the community. The most prominent example of this is in Browns Creek Park, where the creek is a central feature of the landscape, providing a vital natural habitat and recreational space within the urban environment. This interplay of varied elevation and natural water features defines the unique physical character of Battlemont.

The neighborhood has an association by the name of Battlemont Neighborhood Association (BNA). To learn more about BNA and how to get involved, sign up for our email list! Past communications to the neighborhood via Mailchimp can be viewed here.

The purpose of the Association is to promote, maintain, and enhance the quality of life within the Battlemont neighborhood. This includes, but is not limited to, addressing issues such as safety, land use, environmental stewardship, public services, and other matters of collective neighborhood concern. The corporation has powers afforded to nonprofit corporations under the Tennessee Nonprofit Corporation Act and is managed in accordance with its Bylaws.

The History of Battlemont Neighborhood Association (or BNA)
  • Established in 1998, holding regular meetings and neighborhood-wide community events, including National Night Out Against Crime annual picnics, and assistance to neighbors during the flood of 2010.
  • Negotiated with NES on placement of high-power electric lines along the I-440 corridor.
  • Changed residential zoning (downzoned from R-10 to RS-10) with a Metro Council ordinance to control development and help maintain the character of our neighborhood.
  • Cooperated with other neighborhood associations to lower the speed limit on I-440 to reduce noise, pollution, and accidents
  • Worked with Metro Beautification on annual street clean ups.
  • As of August 2025, we are working to incorporate as a legal entity with the state of Tennessee and secure nonprofit tax status with the IRS
